As Hurricane Irma continues to pose a threat to South Florida and with conditions expected to deteriorate, the Palm Beach County Seminole Club is sorry to say that its game-watching parties for Florida State vs. Louisiana-Monroe have been canceled.

The game was recently moved to a noon kickoff because of the storm, allowing enough time for fans to safely travel to and from the game and prepare for the storm.

Initially, Grease Burger Bar intended to stay open for the duration of the game after consulting. However, in the interest of public safety and with the effects of the storm expected to impact South Florida sooner, the restaurant's ownership group has made a decision to close for the weekend.

Mellow Mushroom in Delray Beach previously announced that it would be closed.

The club's first priority is the safety of its volunteers, members, employees of the venues that host the game-watching parties throughout the season and their families.

Of course, the Seminoles will still open their home schedule with true freshman and Palm Beach County resident James Blackman as the starting quarterback. Hopefully you'll get the opportunity to cheer on your team from Tallahassee, in the comfort of your home or wherever else you may be.

The club is hopeful that things will return to normal Sept. 16 when the 10th-ranked Seminoles host No. 16 Miami.
